On the absence of cookies

A static editorial site that sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and uses no advertising trackers. The one third-party request is explained below.

This website sets no cookies. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. The site is static HTML and CSS, serves no scripts that read or write cookies, and loads no analytics or advertising trackers.

Plainly stated

No tracking cookies. No analytics cookies. No advertising cookies. No social-media cookies. No third-party iframes that might set their own cookies. No marketing pixels. No A/B testing tools. No heat-maps. No session-replay. We have considered each of these and decided not to use any of them, because the site is a small editorial site about a small house and none of them would help us run the place better.

The one third-party request

The site uses two Google Fonts — Lora for display, Source Serif Pro for body — which are loaded from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Google's font service does not set cookies on the font request itself, but it does receive your IP address and user-agent string in order to serve the font file. If this concerns you, most browsers can be configured to block requests to those domains; the site will then fall back to system fonts.

Not a cookie, but worth saying

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for fourteen days for security purposes. These contain the requesting IP address, the URL, and the user-agent string. They are not cookies and are not joined to any other dataset. See the privacy page for more.

If this ever changes

If we ever introduce something that does set cookies — and we have no current plan to — we will add a banner at that point, and we will update this page with the date of the change and the cookies in question. Anyone who would like to be notified of such a change in writing may ask us at reception@blythmaltingshouse.com.
